But are they really?
I find it very unlikely that 5000 years ago, women would have been able to stay immobile in their cave/hut for 9 months when pregnant, which might have been most of the time. The human body might actually be OK with that despite modern suspicion...

a great way to induce premature labor. Know a few people that lost their pregnancies by continuing to stay underweight and run while pregnant (had no other health issues). Glad she made it, but not worth the risk.
